Pick up your rental car downtown Florence and drive to your selected accommodation in the Tuscany Countryside. While driving from Florence towards Sienna, consider stopping along the way in the following towns:

  • San Gimignano – known as the Wall Street of the Renaissance, this town is full of towers and history.
  • Certaldo – a short stop on your way back from San Gimignano towards the highway, Certaldo has a well-preserved and quaint downtown area.
  • Monteriggioni- just a quick detour right before arriving in Sienna, this small town offers a unique opportunity to see intact city walls and walk on portions of them.


Visit Siena – one of the jewels of Tuscany:

  • Stroll along the main shopping street to the Town Hall Square (Piazza del Campo) to admire its unique shell shape
  • Continue to the Duomo (Cathedral) and the Baptistery with their unique white and green marble striped walls and its intricate facades
  • Admire some of the aristocratic residences along the downtown streets
  • Stop for a cappuccino and a doughnut at the famous Nannini Conca D’Oro Café’


Suggested attractions or activities:Full day in Sienna’s south province

Visit any (or all) of the following towns:

  • Montalcino, with its majestic fortress, famous hand painted ceramics and 
world-class Brunello wine
  • Montepulciano, a classical Tuscan town with cobblestone roads, great 
sausages and the Vino nobile
  • Pienza, the smallest of the three with its breathtaking belvedere and as 
much Pecorino as you can handle

Suggested additional attractions or towns (geographically close to the towns listed above):

  • Visit to the Monte Oliveto Abbey (cloister frescoes)
  • Visit to Sant’Antimo Abbey (location & majestic architectural structure) – 3 
miles south of Montalcino
  • Wine tasting – any café’ in any of the towns will have a wide selection of local wines, cheese and meats (like for example the café’ in the Montalcino Fortress)
  • Visit and taste wine at any of the local Wineries.
  • Cheese shopping (and tasting) in Pienza (Tuscan Pecorino)


Suggested attractions or activities:Full day in the Chianti area

  • Visit any (or all) of the small towns in the hearth of the Chianti region, like Castellina Gaiole, Greve e Ponzano in Chianti. All of them, although small, arerich in history, great food and excellent wine
  • Tour one of the many Castles in the area and stop in any of the local wineries for Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Wine tastings.



Suggested attractions or activities:Full day in Umbria, Tuscany’s neighboring region.


Visit to Cortona: this middle age town at the border between Tuscany and Umbria, was the set for the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun” and boasts a remarkable church – right before entering the town and a picturesque main square.

Weather and time permitting, it is worthwhile to drive along the Lake Trasimeno coast and to take the ferry to one of its islands


Visit to Assisi:

  • Explore the narrow cobblestone streets
  • Visit the three levels of the St. Francis Basilica
  • Drive to St. Francis Hermitage just outside of town
  • Relax and eat an ice cream in the main square



Suggested attractions or activities:Visit one of the many thermal springs and spas, go shopping or take a scenic drive
