9 Day All Inclusive Getaway to Italy for Women

Seaside towns, mountains, islands, natural springs, a national park and archeological sites are just some of the beauties that await you in the Latina province of Italy.  Just south of Rome, this area is rich in natural splendor and history.

This 9 day, 8 night trip to Italy is designed for an intimate group of 6 women to enjoy the beauties of “off the beaten” track Italy while making new friends.  All the activities are for moderate fitness levels and we’ll provide equipment – kayaks, bicycles, etc. so you can concentrate on having fun and relaxing.

Day 1

Upon your arrival at Rome Fiumicino Airport, a private limo service will take you to the town of Sabaudia, just 30 miles south of Rome. Upon arrival you will have time to check-in in a beachside 4 star hotel where you’ll enjoy beautiful ocean views and the unique sand dunes of  the majestic Circeo National Park.

Meet with the rest of the group for a welcome buffet dinner  served on the terrace overlooking the sea.   Afterwards, you can take a walk along the shore or enjoy a drink in the Kufra open-air lounge before retiring to your comfortable room.

Make a Lakeside Entrance

After a 10-minute ride to the Lake of Paola, you’ll get a quick kayak lesson in the salter-water lake.  Then, you’ll use your newfound skills to kayak to the lakeside entrance of the Villa di Domiziano – the summer residence of Emperor Domiziano.

More a town than a single residence, this palatial court includes the ruins of the Palace, a Temple, thermal baths, servant’s quarters as well as the wealthy court.   Like much of Italy, frescoes and mosaics abound to enhance the beauty of the area.

Lunch – Lakeside

Kayak back in the afternoon and visit the medieval city of Fossanova.

Stroll through the medieval city of Fossanova and meander through the Abbey dating back to the 1100’s.  It’s a near perfect example of Italian Gothic architecture surrounded by several adjacent buildings.  Besides its architecture, it’s probably best known for the visit of St. Thomas Aquinas who died there on his way to France.

A single family privately owns this pedestrian only village. Stroll the cobblestone streets and admire this glimpse into the past.

Dinner- Ristorante Del Borgo in Fossanova

Day 3

“The Most Beautiful Garden in the World”

After a short drive from the hotel,  you’ll visit what’s been called the “most beautiful garden in the world”, according to the New York Times.

Once an ancient city – Ninfa is now famous for its garden.   Located a few miles from the sea with the mountains behind, it’s geography creates a fortunate natural greenhouse effect allowing 1000’s of plants to grow larger and lusher than in other parts of the world. A medieval tower rises out of the spectacular plantings.

This garden is rarely open to the public but as part of the Allure Italia Club, you’ll have special access with a guided tour.

Cooking – Italian Style

Imagine learning how to bake bread and pizza the Italian way.  After your visit, you’ll enjoy a cooking lesson with Giancarlo DeRosa who’ll show you the secrets to achieve that famous Italian texture and flavor.

We’ll have lunch at the same farmhouse where the cooking class occurs.

A Walled City

You’ll also enjoy a visit to Sermoneta—a walled city dating to the 14th century complete with a Romanesque cathedral and castle.  You’ll enjoy a private tour of the castle and the village.

Today, a private foundation manages both the Ninfa Gardens and the Castle of Sermoneta.

Along the way back to the hotel for dinner, we’ll stop by the Romanesque Abbey of  Valvisciolo.

Day 4

Sail the day away

Bring your sunblock, today we sail on the Tyrrhenian Sea.

We’ll take a short ride to the marina where we’ll board our private sailing vessel.  You’ll enjoy a sailing lesson enroute to the Ventotene Island. This area is rich with archeological sites dating back to the 4th century– including Tiberius’ Grotto and Temple of Jupiter.  We’ll explore a promontory that sits on top of a cliff and has a 360 degree view of everything around the island.  It’s spectacular at sunset.

Lunch and dinner will be on the deck of the boat.

Day 5

Explore Mount Circeo

We’ll enjoy a moderate hike on Mount Circeo– part of the majestic Circeo National Park, which was formed in 1934 to preserve the Pontine Marshes, the natural marshland of the area.

This hike will be approximately two hours and guided along this mountain on the sea.  A park ranger will accompany us and share points of interest.  Lunch will be brown bag (provided).

On the way back, we’ll see a Greek Temple and enjoy a sea water spa treatment.  This is area of Italy is famous for thermal baths and  Thalassotherapy—the belief in the healing powers of ocean water.

The spa treatment is sure to relieve any muscle tension and allow you to relax fully into our al fresco dinner cliffside in the charming town of San Felice Circeo.

Day 6

Today you’ll enjoy a bike tour through Circeo National Park.  We’ll have a private tour by a park ranger who will point out the types of homes and plant and animal life that were common here before the marshland was drained in the 1930’s.  Circeo National Park is one of the oldest Neanderthal sites found in Italy and very beautiful.

Lunch will be a picnic in the park.

After lunch, we’ll bike back or you can ride in the van if you’ve had enough exercise.  After an afternoon rest, get ready for a home cooked meal.  My designer-clad, world-class cook mother will welcome you into our home and feed you.

Day 7

Explore Rome.  The day is yours to explore, shop, and sightsee.  Visit old favorites, see new sights, or shop the famous markets. Lunch and dinner are on your own.

I’ll be available to point out some of the highlights of the famous city and book anything for you.

Day 8

Private tour at Palazzo Corsini—once home to Joseph Bonaparte and Christina, Queen of Sweden– this palace turned art gallery is nestled in the quiet, leafy Trastevere neighborhood.

We’ll also enjoy a private tour of the neighborhood.  This is the only part of Rome that survived the medieval period and it has captured the hearts of many a visitor.  Its winding streets intersperse outdoor cafes with shops and a fountain designed by Bernini.  The variety of street life and architectural styles make Trastevere a charming neighborhood across the Tiber River.

Dinner  will be in a typical Trattoria in Trastevere.

Day 9

A private limo service will take you to the  Rome Fiumicino airport in time to catch your flight back to the US.
