Puglia and Matera

Day 1

Departure from any US/ Canada International Airport.

 

 Day 2

Arrival in Rome, Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport, Italy. Connecting flight to Bari Airport.

Transfer to your accommodation via rental car or limo service.

 Check-in at the hotel in Bari, settle in your room.

Suggested attractions or activities:

  •     Visit the old town centre
  •        Visit the  Basilica di San Nicola with the remaining of St. Nicholas, also known as Santa Claus.

 

 Day 3

 Transfer  to Matera, this UNESCO town is magnificent with its cave-houses. (66km; 41miles)

Check-in at the hotel in Matera, settle in your room.

Suggested attractions or activities:

  •        Stroll along the picturesque lanes and ruins
  •        Visit the cave-churches and cave-homes

 

  Day 4

 

Transfer to Alberobello, UNESCO site since 1996. (69km; 43miles).

Check-in, settle in your room.

Suggested attractions or activities:

  •        Walk around and make sure to take a selfie with the famous Trulli as a backdrop. Trulli are typical  stone cottages with a conical shingled

 

Day 5

Transfer to Lecce known as the Lady of the Baroque of the South (113km; 70miles).

You will be driving along the Itria’s Valley, where you could stop to visit two beautiful towns:

  •        Locorotondo with its famous vineyards
  •         Ostuni, known by the local as “The white city”

Check-in, settle in your room. Spend 2 nights in Lecce.

 

Day 6

 All day in Lecce.

Suggested attractions or activities: 

  •        Visit the old town
  •        Visit the Roman amphitheater
  •        Visit St. Oronzo Square and Charles V Castle

 

Day 7

All Day trip: Lecce-Otranto (47km; 30miles)

  •        Otranto is a historic seaside town and port on the Salento east coast. Otranto leading’s attraction is the Romanesque Cathedral (open 7.00-noon; 3.00pm-8.00pm closing earlier in winter).
  •        Visit  a typical  “Masseria”  (Farm) for a Olive oil tasting or to participate to a cooking class.

 

Day 8

Transfer Lecce-Brindisi (39km; 24miles).

Flight from Brindisi Airport to “Leonardo da Vinci” Rome International Airport and to connecting flight to US/Canada.
